Auto-updating the site from GitHub

Check, download, install, and migrate the database — with one click.

Automation ·3 days

Task
Every site update used to go through a developer: upload files via FTP, apply database changes.
The client wanted to update on their own — quickly and without the risk of forgetting something.

Solution
We built updates right into the panel: a new version is published to a private GitHub repository, the site checks for it automatically, downloads the archive, verifies the checksum, and unpacks the files over the current ones. Then database changes are applied and the cache is cleared.

What's inside

  • one-click update check and installation from the panel;
  • the archive is built automatically: all code + a list of changed files;
  • protection against tampering (checksum verification);
  • manual ZIP upload and "database migration only" — as a fallback.

Result
Updating takes a minute instead of half an hour of manual work, and the version on the site and in the database always match.
